Keep little hands busy this Valentine’s Day with this sweet, easy craft. Toddlers and preschoolers will enjoy creating Painted Foil Hearts for their friends and family. This simple, colorful heart craft is perfect for home or school.
Painted Foil Hearts
Painting on aluminum foil is a classic art activity for toddlers and preschoolers. Painting on shiny foil with bright colors is inviting and fun.
To make this craft you will need:
- paint
- aluminum foil
- cardboard (we used an empty cereal box)
- paintbrush
- yarn
- scissors
- pen
- cardstock
After gathering supplies, cut a heart template from the card stock. Invite kids to trace the heart onto a thin piece of cardboard. Cereal, cracker, or dog biscuit boxes are perfect!
Cut out the heart, and tear a piece of aluminum foil into several long sheets.
Invite kids to wrap the aluminum foil around the cardboard heart, then paint over it with bright colors.
Sprinkle glitter over the wet paint, then allow the heart to dry.
When the paint is dry, invite kids to tape a loop of yarn to the back. The hearts look adorable hung on walls, doors, and windows! For added fun, pair this craft with a fabulous Valentine’s Day book!
