Crafters of all ages will enjoy creating Easy Felt Heart Puppets for Valentine’s Day. They are an extra special Valentine for little ones, perfect for story-telling, and fun to make at home, school, or daycare.
Felt Heart Puppets
My kids enjoy watching and putting on puppet shows. Our new Felt Heart Puppets are perfect for sharing Valentine’s Day stories of friendship, love, and kindness. My children enjoyed creating them in a rainbow of bright colors. Because this craft is easy, they were able to do so independently.
To make this craft you will need:
- stiffened felt (assorted colors)
- large wiggly eyes
- scissors
- felt heart stickers
- pipe cleaners (assorted colors)
- tacky craft glue
- jumbo craft sticks
- tape
After gathering supplies, cut a large heart from the felt. Glue the wiggly eyes to the heart with tacky craft glue. Cut a small mouth from another color of felt, then glue it to the heart. Alternatively, kids could use paper instead of felt and use markers to decorate their heart’s face.
Peel the backing off of the heart stickers, then stick two to each side of the pipe cleaner (one in the front, one in the back). Repeat with the other end of the pipe cleaner. Tape the pipe cleaner to the back of the heart, bending the arms into the shape of a hug.
Glue a jumbo craft stick to the back of the puppet. Allow the glue to dry completely before using in play.
Aren’t they adorable?!
