Two Fun Halloween Treats for Kids

Two Fun Halloween Treats for Kids

Halloween is just around the corner and I am beyond ready. It is such a great holiday for both kids and adults that really brings families together for lighthearted fun!

Today we are excited to partner with Nestlé® Pure Life® to bring you two really easy and fun Halloween themed foods that you can make for a meal at home or bring to your kid’s classroom Halloween party!

Halloween Themed Snacks for Kids

There is SO MUCH you can do with food to make it Halloween themed and fun to get kids excited to eat their meals. Today we decided to make Halloween Mummy Dogs and Pumpkin Oranges paired with Nestlé® Pure Life®’s adorable 8oz limited edition Halloween water bottles.

Have you ever given your kids these mini water bottles? My daughter gets so much more excited about drinking water out of these little bottles because the labels are Halloween themed! We actually made a game out of her “collecting” the 8 different Halloween labels that keeps her constantly drinking water because she can’t wait to see which themed bottle she gets next!

If you are going trick- or- treating this year these 2 recipes are something you can make quickly before you head out and the Halloween theme makes the night even more exciting. Nestlé® Pure Life® 8oz bottles are the perfect size for trick- or- treating, making it easy for kids to stay hydrated throughout the night. If your kids have school Halloween parties these recipes could be really fun for that too!

Halloween Pumpkin Oranges

This recipe is so simple that I can’t even call it a recipe, but it is so so incredibly cute. You can easily turn a clementine into a pumpkin by peeling it and taking tiny pieces of sliced celery and adding them to the top of the clementine for the pumpkin’s stem.

Aren’t they so adorable!?

I think they would be super fun at the school Halloween party!

Keeping Kids Hydrated During the Holidays

We are about to dive into a series of the biggest holidays of the year. All of which include fun times with family, but are also a really busy time of year, especially when you add school into the mix!

Two Fun Halloween Treats for Kids

In January 2017, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics released their latest data on kids’ sugar-sweetened beverage consumption: The new report found that more than two-thirds of children in the US consume at least one sugary beverage per day; roughly 30 percent consumer two or more a day.

Replacing a single 12-ounce, 140 calorie sugar sweetened beverage with water each day for a year can cut more than 65 cups of sugar from your kids diet! That is A LOT of sugar!

It is so incredibly important that we are teaching our kids healthy habits, like drinking water, while they are still young so they will continue to implement those habits throughout their lives. Kids who drink 4+ glasses of water per day are more likely to exhibit other healthy habits like eating fruit and vegetables without reminders and requesting healthy food options for school lunches.

I think that as parents we can all agree on the fact that kids are not usually thinking about staying hydrated throughout their day. In fact, drinking water is one of the biggest “healthy habit” struggles moms have with their kids, but maybe if we can make drinking water fun with Nestlé® Pure Life® 8oz Halloween themed water bottles we can turn that statistic around!

Halloween Mummy Dogs Recipe

We always go trick or treating early since we like to be wrapping up and getting home before it gets too late so that makes our Halloween dinnertime even earlier than usual, which is why I usually opt for something super simple for dinner that night.

While I want to make Halloween dinner easy, I also want to make it fun! We only get one night a year to dress up and be silly so why not make it as fun as possible, right!?

These Mummy Dogs are super easy and fun and take only 10-15 minutes to prepare with 15 minutes of cooking time. 3 ingredients + 15 minutes = easiest meal EVER! These Mummy Dogs pair perfectly with Nestlé® Pure Life® 8oz Halloween water bottles to keep kids are hydrated before heading out to trick- or- treat!

Ingredients:

1 8oz can of crescent rolls

10 hot dogs mustard or ketchup (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°

Roll out crescent rolls and divide them into 4 rectangle pieces.

Mash the perforated edges in the middle of the rectangles together.

Cut each rectangle piece lengthwise to create 10 thin strips of dough.

Wrap 3-4 pieces of dough around each hot dog to make a “mummy”. Be sure to leave a space about 1/2 an inch from the top of the hot dog to make the mummy’s face.

Bake mummy dogs for about 15 minutes or until the dough is a golden color. Then draw a “face” on the mummy with ketchup or mustard!
