Health Affairs is planning a theme issue in March 2017 that will provide a broad look at delivery system innovation. We plan to publish about 20 peer-reviewed articles including research, systematic reviews, well-designed case studies, analyses, and commentaries from leading researchers and scholars, analysts, industry experts, and health and health care stakeholders.
We will invite several overview papers exploring broad topics in innovation, including issues in evaluating and isolating the specific effects of innovations, environmental factors that promote effective innovation, and understanding the value of local and regional innovation in the context of broader system and national goals.
In filling out the issue, we are particularly interested in empirical analyses of innovations of varying scales (from small to large) and origins—public and private; community, state/regional, and national levels; innovations in other countries, etc. We will place an emphasis on well-designed studies of innovative practices that contain objective evaluation and that offer promise of scalability and sustainability. We are also interested in lessons learned from failed initiatives.
We invite all interested authors to submit abstracts for consideration for this issue. Abstracts must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM Eastern time, July 5, 2016.
Abstract submissions should not exceed 500 words. Please consult our online guidelines for additional formatting instructions and answers to frequently asked questions. Submit abstracts via our online submission portal.
Please feel free to pass this invitation along to colleagues who might be interested, as well. If you have questions about this request, please email Healthaffairs_delivery_innovation_queries@projecthope.org.
