Sloppy Joe Turnovers is an awesome and easy twist on traditional Sloppy Joe sandwiches. I love them because there's no mess like the original ones. No having to worry about gloppy gloop spilling out everywhere. Plus these are super simple and fast to make.
Here's our traditional Sloppy Joes recipe that is a hit with kids and moms alike.
In this Sloppy Joe Turnovers recipe I add a few special ingredients to make it more my style (and I'll show you how I do that in the recipe below), but you can make your sauce however you want. Just be sure the sauce isn't too thin. These are so much fun to make so let's get started!
Sloppy Joe Turnovers
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 15 oz can Manwich or other Sloppy Joe sauce
- 2 packages refrigerated crescent roll sheets
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 sweet onion, minced
- 1-2 sprigs fresh thyme, minced
- 1 Tablespoon garlic salt
Directions
In a large skillet with a little olive oil saute onion, garlic cloves, and garlic salt.
Add ground beef and fresh thyme.
Brown the ground beef and drain off excess fat. Add entire contents of Manwich or other Sloppy Joe sauce. Stir to combine and simmer on low heat for 2-3 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
Flatten out refrigerated crescent roll sheets with a rolling pin. Cut into 3 equal portions.
Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray or line with parchment paper. ON THE COOKIE SHEET spread 1/6 portion of the sauce onto one-half of each crescent roll sheet. Fold in edges and press to seal like in image.
Bake at 350 F for about 15 minutes or until crescent roll sheet dough is cooked thoroughly and is beginning to turn golden brown. Remove from oven and serve immediately. I like to serve these with a fresh salad.
