Kids of all ages will have fun making classic craft stick boxes. This frugal craft is entertaining, fun, and useful. Finished boxes make thoughtful gifts for Mother's Day, birthdays, or Father's Day.
Classic Craft Stick Box Craft
When I was a little girl, I enjoyed using saved popsicle sticks to make crafts. I don't save popsicle sticks anymore. Instead, I buy a monster-sized box at the craft store so my kids can create monster-sized projects. This colorful orange, blue, yellow, and purple craft is my son's most recent creation.
To Make This Craft You Will Need
- wooden craft sticks
- white school glue
- paint
- paintbrush
Directions
After gathering supplies, invite kids to begin glueing and stacking craft sticks together to form a square.
When they feel satisfied with the height of their box, invite them to glue craft sticks all along the top. This will actually become the bottom of their box when it's dry and flipped over.
As their box is drying, show kids how to make the lid. Simply place two crafts sticks on the bottom, then glue craft sticks all along the top. Glue a little wooden knob to the top of the lid. Allow the lid to dry completely.
While the box and lid are drying, kids can get ready to paint!
Paint the box and lid. My son used a bunch of colors to give his box and lid a swirled, rainbow appearance.
Allow the paint to dry. If desired, seal the paint with Mod Podge or clear acrylic spray.
