Get Preserving Ideas From This Interactive Canning Map

Get preserving ideas from this interactive canning map

Have you seen Freshly Preserved Ideas? It’s a new Tumblr page brought to you by the fine folks at Ball Canning, and it’s full of pretty inspiration for crafters, useful tips for first-time canners, and enticing recipes for all kinds of concoctions.

It’s not all jams and pickles, either (though you’ll find all that, and more). Scroll down the page for links to botanical cocktails, herbal salts, salad dressings, and overnight oats — all made in mason jars, of course.

Perhaps the neatest feature of the new site is an interactive canning map that changes monthly. You’ll see what’s in season in every part of the country; right now, it’s zucchini in the west and cabbage in the east. Hover over those icons and they’ll take you to a Ball Canning recipe for that fruit or vegetable! (I’m especially intrigued by the sweet tea-poached peaches.) You can view previous months’ recipes and check back the following month for more.

Freshly Preserved Ideas is a frequently updated page, so be sure to bookmark it if you love to look at jars and put things in them as much as I do!
