Candy Loaded Campfire Brownies

Campfire Brownies are probably one of our favorite parts of camping out! Our desserts out camping are usually this recipe, a Berry Crisp or delicious Campfire Cones!

Summer in Iowa is a time to get outside and enjoy the amazing weather. We spend our weekends camping all over the state, enjoying great family time, food and having a blast exploring new places.

One of my favorite parts of planning for our camping trips is to find new camping tips and hacks that make things easier as well as new delicious campfire recipes to make!

The first time we made these campfire brownies, my kids were so impressed and actually said they were the best brownies they had ever had. There's just something about cooking over the campfire that makes everything better!

How to Make Campfire Brownies

Start with packing all the ingredients you need or you can use our Fudge Homemade Brownies

  • 1 Box of Brownie Mix with ingredients to prepare
  • Candy – all your favorites! We use M&M's and Twix
  • Foil
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray
  • Cast Iron Dutch Oven

You will want to start by getting your fire going and having coals that are red and ready to go!

Mix together the brownie mix with all the ingredients the box calls for.

Line your dutch oven with the foil AND spray with the non-stick cooking spray.

Pour the brownie mixture into the dutch oven.

Top with any of the candy you want to have in your brownies!

Place the lid on top of the dutch oven and put into the fire. Place a few of the hot coals on the lid. This will take about 20 minutes to cook but you may want to pull it out and check it to make sure it doesn't burn.

Note: The cook time varies depending on the head of your coals.

Serve this delicious dessert topped with vanilla ice cream and you'll have the perfect campfire brownies treat!

Remember that camping in your backyard can be a fun activity to do this summer! If you have a fire pit in your backyard, these brownies are fun to make on a Friday night at home too!
